Johanna Lanzaro

Johanna Lanzaro was born in Munich on October 24, 1980. Since she was six years old she was educated in contemporary dance and ballet by Jessica Iwanson. Plus she started learning the classic Indian temple dance style Bharatanatyam in 1995, which she has studied in Germany, India, and Canada and she completed the formation in Berlin in November 2006. Johanna Lanzaro is one of very few European female dancers who present Indian dance on such a high level which normally only can be shown by professional Indian dancers. If requested, Indian live musicians based in London can accompany her.
Though her main emphasis is on Indian dance, she added a graduation in modern dance at danceworks-berlin and at the Alvin Ailey School of American Dance Theater in New York City. Her teachers were, among others: Savithri J. Rao (Kalakshetra/Madras), Lata Pada (Toronto), Ana Marie Forsythe (NYC), Tracy Inman (NYC) as well as Elena Comendador (NYC).
Moreover, she can proof a profound knowledge of classic occidental music (piano and music theory) taught by professors of conservatories in Munich, Graz and Berlin.
Lately she could be seen at the Theater an der Parkaue in Berlin, in several solo productions and in “betwixt and between” by Felix Ruckert at Kampnagel in Hamburg, in Zagreb and in Munich. On demand Johanna Lanzaro can be engaged for Indian dance performances as well as for contemporary dance projects.
