Uwe Scholz' choreographies live in Tokyo!

After eight cancelled projects by Uwe Scholz this season I am overjoyed to announce that the LIVE premiere of "Uwe Scholz Selection 2" with the choreographies "Air!", "Octet" and "Adam and Eve Pas de Deux" took place in TOKYO on January 23rd and 24th 2021.
1000 thanks to the great ballet masters Giovanni Di Palma and Kiyoko Kimura, who rehearsed more than 9 weeks with the dancers of Tokyo City Ballet, many thanks also to the director of Tokyo City Ballet, Etsuko Adachi Ichikawa, to Peter Lutz and last but not least to the German Embassy in Tokyo, who took over the patronage for this project!

Marco Goecke receives "Swan"-Award during the ceremony of the VSCD dance prices in Maastricht

Marco Goecke received the Swan for "Most Impressive Dance Production" for his creation "Midnight Raga".

Midnight Raga won the Swan for “Most Impressive Dance Production” in 2017. About this ballet, the jury said: “In Midnight Raga two powerful dancers give Marco Goecke’s movement language with its recognizable, nervous shaking movements the essential precision and therefore inescapability. A choreography drawn on the body of the dancers, spatially and sharply performed, excellently timed, underlined by the simplicity of decor, light and costumes. “

Marco Goecke awarded with the prestigious "Premio Danza&Danza 2016"

There seems to be no end to the shower of prizes for Marco Goecke's NIJINSKI: According to the January-February issue of Danza&Danza, his ballet has now scooped two of the prestigious Premio Danza&Danza 2016 awarded by the Italian specialist magazine. In any case, the Theaterhaus Stuttgart production seems to have made a lasting impression in Italy where it was shown at the festival Bolzano Danza – for NIJINSKI received awards in two of the main categories:

The Premio Danza&Danza for Best Choreographer goes to Marco Goecke.
Excerpt from Danza&Danza: „On several occasions, Goecke's works were shown in Italy, for instance by the Stuttgart company Gauthier Dance at Bolzano Danza where Nijinski saw its Italian première; a mature work which portrays the deep feelings of the iconic 20th century dancer in a dense, powerful choreography.“

A Premio Danza&Danza as Dancer of the Year goes to Rosario Guerra.
Danza&Danza has always followed the career of the Neapolitan Rosario Guerra with special attention. Rosario has become a true audience favourite in his native country, due to the regular Italian tours of Gauthier Dance and his celebrated appearances at charity galas with, amongst others, Gauthier's technically demanding solo Ballet 101. As early as 2011, Danza&Danza voted him Best Italian Dancer Outside Italy. It is thanks to NIJINSKI that the specialist magazine now lists him among the Dancers of the Year 2016.

Excerpt from Danza&Danza: „With his charismatic, engrossing presence, Rosario Guerra captures the imagination with smooth, sensual movements full of energy that are as touching as they are tragic. He is a true perfomer who, in the role of Vaslav Nijinsky, excels in the interplay between the upper body and the arms – an important feature of Marco Goecke's choreography for the Stuttgart company Gauthier Dance. Anyone who saw him perform at the festival Bolzano Danza last summer could not fail to be impressed by how he managed to breathe new life into the dance legend. Danza&Danza readers already know him as Best Italian Dancer Outside Italy 2011; his artistic maturity now earns another distinction.“
