Composer Kiril Richter and choreographer Marco Goecke reunited for Seven Ages, a work inspired by Shakespeare’s reflection on the seven stages of human life. While the setting for their previous collaboration was a stripped-out hotel awaiting demolition, an even more singular location has now been found for the world premiere in the Red Tower in Switzerland and again for the Spoleto Festival with Rocca Albornoziana. Time, history and transience are themes that preoccupy both artists, naturally leading to the larger question of the meaning of life.
We are delighted that Seven Ages will now be presented in an adapted version for its Italian premiere at the Spoleto Festival. The solo will be performed in two alternating casts, featuring Matteo Miccini and Anne Jung, whose distinctive artistic personalities offer different interpretations and perspectives on this deeply reflective work.
