Rolando D'Alesio
Rolando D’Alesio was born in Rome, where he also has gained his first dance education, attended dancing classes in London and later on in Stuttgart at the John Cranko School.
Starting the season 1991/1992 as ordinary member of the Ballet Stuttgart, Rolando D’Alesio danced in the Corps de Ballet until he was promoted to half-soloist in 2000. His leading parts were besides others Lenski in „Onegin“, Mercutio and Bevolio in „Romeo and Juliet“, Gremio in „ The Taming of the Shrew“, all choreographed by John Cranko, as well as the Blue Bird in Marcia Haydees „The Sleeping Beauty“ and Monsieur Duval in John Neumeier’s „The Lady of the Camellias“. In addition to that he was dancing solo parts in oeuvres of George Balanchine, Maurice Béjart, Jiri Kylian, Uwe Scholz, Jérome Robbins, Glen Tetley, Hans van Manen and William Forsythe. Various choreographers were even creating own parts for D’Alesio, such as Uwe Scholz, Stephan Thoss, Mauro Bigonzetti and Christian Spuck.
Since 2003 Rolando D’Alesio is working as ballet master and head of training at the Ballet Stuttgart, plus he is taking over the choreographic assistance and the rehearsal of productions of Marco Goecke and Christian Spuck. D’Alesio accepted invitations of numerous renowned dance companies as guest teacher, for example of the NDT, the Alterballetto, the Ballet of the State Opera Hannover, the Dolon Dance Company or the Nationaltheater Mannheim.
Among others he has staged the piece “Sweet Sweet Sweet” by Marco Goecke in Hannover, Saarbrücken and Munich and very recently in March 2010, he has restaged “Suite Suite Suite” by Marco Goecke for Leipzig Ballet.
